Day Eight: Last Full Day in Maui

We slept in and then got some errands done. We went to the UPS store and shipped home some things we bought and some clothes we know we won't need. We also picked up my prescription nasal spray at Longs Drugs which is now CVS. It was ten minutes down the road. Very convenient. We had lunch at a deli called 808, the area code here. It was delish.

Then we took a drive down the road that our hotel is on and were amazed with the ocean view and volcanic rock. Our waiter tonight explained that what we saw was indeed lava flow from the volcano we were on yesterday. The pictures of the rocky shore are showing igneous rock from the volcano. It is just mind blowing.

Igneous rock for miles!!

We ended our last day on Maui at the infinity pool at sunset. Then we had dinner at the hotel restaurant called Mala. It is fantastic.

We fly out at 2:00 tomorrow for Kauia! We are really excited since many people tell us the Marriott there is superb and the pool and beach are right near each other. Very cool!!

We will be in Kauia for five nights. Definitely planning long drives, a snorkeling trip, hanging at the pool/beach and I will be needing a mani/pedi!! Ha! Aloha!

Different topic: new birds sighted

1. I forgot to mention the many spotted doves and zebra doves.
2. We saw a lot of these gray partridges today (Gray Francolin).

3. We saw this pretty bird while driving today. Japanese White Eye (Majiro)
